The Commemorative Quarter for Washington

Welcome to Park ...

So far, we found very little information about Park. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Park to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Park - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Park, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Park , we believe that it would have been located within present day Whatcom County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Park, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1884.

Time Zone: The area where Park was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Park still existed, it would have been in the (360) area code.

Communities Also Named Park ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Washington communities named Park: This one is located in Whatcom County and the other is located in Whitman County.

Beyond Washington, there are 24 communities that are also named Park - they are located in California (2), Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa (2), Kansas, Kentucky (2), Michigan (2), Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio (2), Pennsylvania, Tennessee (2), Texas (2) and Virginia (2).

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Park.

Adding Park to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Park in the FIPS-55 file. For more information, see the Referenced FIPS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Park was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Park post office opened in 1884.

We also found Park in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Park, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Washington's counties, including Whatcom, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
