At the time of the 2010 Census, Alpine had a population of 5,905 people (which is 63.96% of the total population of Brewster County). This makes Alpine the county's most populous community.

The population of Alpine represents 0.02% of the population of Texas (which has 25,145,561 people), making it the state's 300th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 5,905 people, the population of Alpine increased 2.06% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 5,786 people).
