Welcome to Swett ...

So far, we found very little information about Swett. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Swett would have been located within present day Bennett County<2>.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Swett, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1931.

From the 2010 Census (the most recent Census number we have), Swett had a population of 285 people.<3> (see below for details).

While the community is gone, the present day location for Swett is 3,340 feet [1,018 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Swett is about ¾ mile [or 1 km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Swett was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Swett (for example, toward Spring Creek), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

Swett would have been located in the (605) area code.

We originally found mention of Swett in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Swett was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Swett post office opened in 1931.
