So far, we found very little information about Fort Meade. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have the exact location of Fort Meade , we believe that it would have been located within present day Meade County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Fort Meade, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1879.

We originally found mention of Fort Meade in the FIPS-55 file. For more information, see the Referenced FIPS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Fort Meade was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Fort Meade post office opened in 1879.

We also found Fort Meade in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
