While we don't have a date for the founding of Varntown, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1901.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Varntown is 60 feet [18 m] above sea level.<4>.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Varntown was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Varntown post office opened in 1901.

We also found Varntown on a map titled Rand McNally Map of South Carolina (1911).
