At the time of the 2010 Census, Pioneer had a population of 1,380 people. This makes Pioneer the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Pioneer represents 0.01% of the population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's 466th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,380 people, the population of Pioneer decreased 5.48% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,460 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pioneer was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Pioneer post office opened in 1851.

We also found Pioneer in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
