Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Huron had an population of 6,880 people. This is a decrease of 3.76% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 13.55% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Huron had a population of 7,149 people (which is 9.27% of the total population of Erie County). This makes Huron the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Huron represents 0.06% of the population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's 203rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,149 people, the population of Huron decreased 10.17% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 7,958 people).

We originally found mention of Huron in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Huron was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Huron post office opened in 1825.

We also found Huron in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
