Welcome to Poeville ...

So far, we found very little information about Poeville. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Poeville to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Poeville - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Poeville, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Poeville , we believe that it would have been located within present day Washoe County<2>.

Poeville was founded in 1874.

Time Zone: The area where Poeville was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Poeville to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Poeville was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Poeville post office opened in 1874.

We also found Poeville on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map of Nevada (1883).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Poeville, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Nevada's counties, including Washoe, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
