Welcome to Tafoya ...So far, we found very little information about Tafoya. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Tafoya to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Tafoya, please Contact Us. Tafoya would have been located within present day Colfax County<2>. The location of Tafoya has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Tafoya, you might consider that their post office opened in 1936. While the community is gone, the present day location for Tafoya is 6,300 feet [1,920 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Tafoya is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Tafoya was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel east from Tafoya (for example, toward Texline (TX)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT). If Tafoya still existed, it would have been in the (575) area code.
