So far, we found very little information about Plainview. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have the exact location of Plainview , we believe that it would have been located within present day Lea County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Plainview, you might consider that their post office opened in 1907.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two New Mexico communities named Plainview: This one is located in Lea County and the other is located in Roosevelt County.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Plainview was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
From that list, the Plainview post office opened in 1907.
