Welcome to Hachita ...So far, we found very little information about Hachita. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Hachita to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Hachita, please Contact Us. Hachita was located in southwest New Mexico. Hachita would have been located within present day Grant County<2>. The location of Hachita has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Hachita, you might consider that their post office opened in 1882. While the community is gone, the present day location for Hachita is 4,520 feet [1,378 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Hachita is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Hachita was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel west from Hachita, you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not. The location where Hachita once stood is in the (575) area code.
