The location of Bloomfield has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2> While we don't have a date for the founding of Bloomfield, you might consider that their post office opened in 1879. From the Census Estimates for 2019, Bloomfield has a population of 7,692 people<3> (see below for details). The community of Bloomfield is 5,620 feet [1,713 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Bloomfield is about 1 mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level. Time Zone: Bloomfield lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you leave Bloomfield and travel west, you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not. Bloomfield is located in the (505) area code. With a 2010 count of 8,112 people, the population of Bloomfield increased 26.41% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,417 people).
