At the time of the 2010 Census, Tecumseh had a population of 1,677 people (or 32.14% of the total population of Johnson County). This makes Tecumseh the county's most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Tecumseh was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Tecumseh post office opened in 1857.

We also found Tecumseh in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
