Welcome to Wise ...

So far, we found very little information about Wise. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Wise to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Wise - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Wise, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Wise , we believe that it would have been located within present day Barton County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Wise, you might consider that their post office opened in 1894.

Time Zone: The area where Wise was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Wise would have been located in the (417) area code.

Communities Also Named Wise ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 18 communities that are also named Wise - they are located in Alabama, Arkansas (2), California, Georgia (2), Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina (2), Texas (2), Virginia and West Virginia.

Adding Wise to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Wise was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Wise post office opened in 1894.

We also found Wise on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1904.
