Welcome to Fargo ...

So far, we found very little information about Fargo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Fargo to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Fargo - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Fargo, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Fargo , we believe that it would have been located within present day Benton County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Fargo, you might consider that their post office opened in 1894.

When the people of Fargo referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Fargoan<3>

Time Zone: The area where Fargo was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Fargo ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 19 communities that are also named Fargo - they are located in Arkansas, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana (2), Kansas (2), Michigan, New York (2), North Dakota, Ohio (2), Oklahoma, Ontario, Oregon, Texas and Wisconsin.

Adding Fargo to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Fargo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Fargo post office opened in 1894.
