From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Gilmore was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Gilmore post office opened in 1897.

We also found Gilmore on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Maryland (1911).
