Welcome to Pitt ...

So far, we found very little information about Pitt. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Pitt to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Pitt - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Pitt, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Pitt , we believe that it would have been located within present day Finney County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Pitt, you might consider that their post office opened in 1892.

If Pitt still existed, it would have been in the (620) area code.

Communities Also Named Pitt ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Kansas communities named Pitt: This one is located in Finney County and the other is located in Kingman County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 7 communities that are also named Pitt - they are located in Alabama, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, South Carolina and Washington.

Adding Pitt to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Pitt was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Pitt post office opened in 1892.
