Welcome to Jamesville (aka 'Jamaica') ...

So far, we found very little information about Jamesville. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Jamesville to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Jamesville <3>, we believe that it would have been located within present day Greenwood County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Jamesville, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1860.

Time Zone: The area where Jamesville was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Jamesville once stood is in the (620) area code.

The community of Jamesville has also been called Jamaica.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Jamesville was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Jamesville post office opened in 1860.

We also found Jamesville in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
