The Commemorative Quarter for Kansas

Welcome to Gaskill ...

So far, we found very little information about Gaskill. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Gaskill to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Gaskill - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Gaskill, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Gaskill , we believe that it would have been located within present day Kearny County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Gaskill, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1908.

Gaskill would have been located in the (620) area code.

Communities Also Named Gaskill ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Kansas communities named Gaskill: This one is located in Kearny County and the other is located in Washington County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 4 communities that are also named Gaskill - they are located in Kentucky, Michigan and New York.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Gaskill.

Adding Gaskill to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Gaskill was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Gaskill post office opened in 1908.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Gaskill, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Kansas' counties, including Kearny, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
