Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Bourbonnais had an population of 19,483 people. This is an increase of 4.57% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 27.71% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bourbonnais had a population of 18,631 people (which is 16.42% of the total population of Kankakee County). This makes Bourbonnais the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Bourbonnais represents 0.15% of the population of Illinois (which has 12,830,632 people), making it the state's 134th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 18,631 people, the population of Bourbonnais increased 22.12% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 15,256 people).
