From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Summerset was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Summerset post office opened in 1850.

We also found Summerset in the book titled Sixth Biennial Report of the State Mine Inspectors, Two Years Ending June 30, 1893.
