The Commemorative Quarter for Iowa

Welcome to Red Rock ...

So far, we found very little information about Red Rock. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Red Rock to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Red Rock - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Red Rock, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Red Rock , we believe that it would have been located within present day Marion County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Red Rock, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1851.

Time Zone: The area where Red Rock was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Red Rock, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Iowa's counties, including Marion, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
