Welcome to Olympus ...

So far, we found very little information about Olympus. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Olympus to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Olympus - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Olympus, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Olympus , we believe that it would have been located within present day Harrison County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Olympus, you might consider that their post office opened in 1892.

Time Zone: The area where Olympus was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Olympus would have been located in the (712) area code.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 2 communities that are also named Olympus - they are located in Tennessee and Vermont.

Adding Olympus to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Olympus was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Olympus post office opened in 1892.

We also found Olympus in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
