Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Jewell had an population of 1,141 people. This is a decrease of 6.09% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 7.91% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Jewell had a population of 1,215 people (or 7.75% of the total population of Hamilton County). This makes Jewell the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Jewell represents 0.04% of the total population of Iowa (which has 3,046,355 people), making it the state's 241st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,215 people, the population of Jewell decreased 1.94% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,239 people).

We originally found mention of Jewell in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Jewell was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Jewell post office opened in 1880.

We also found Jewell in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
