The Commemorative Quarter for Georgia

Welcome to Luck ...

So far, we found very little information about Luck. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Luck to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Luck - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Luck, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Luck , we believe that it would have been located within present day Hall County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Luck, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1877.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Luck has a population of 2,283 people<3> (see below for details).

Time Zone: The area where Luck was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Luck once stood is in the (770) area code.

Communities Also Named Luck ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 2 communities that are also named Luck - they are located in North Carolina and Wisconsin.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Luck.

Adding Luck to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Luck was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Luck post office opened in 1877.

We also found Luck on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1883.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Luck, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Georgia's counties, including Hall, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>Population counts have been provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. For more detail, please visit our Census Page for Luck.
