So far, we found very little information about Comfort. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Comfort would have been located within present day Greene County<2>.


The location of Comfort has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Comfort, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1892.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Comfort has a population of 7,085 people<4> (see below for details).

While the community is gone, the present day location for Comfort is 510 feet [155 m] above sea level.<5>.

Time Zone: The area where Comfort was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Comfort in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Comfort was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Comfort post office opened in 1892.

We also found Comfort on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1899.
