At the time of the 2010 Census, Eagle had a population of 6,508 people (which is 12.47% of the total population of Eagle County). This makes Eagle the county's most populous community.
The population of Eagle represents 0.13% of the total population of Colorado (which has 5,029,196 people), making it the state's 59th most populous community.
With a 2010 count of 6,508 people, the population of Eagle increased 114.64% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,032 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Eagle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
From that list, the Eagle post office opened in 1891.
