The Commemorative Quarter for California

Welcome to Echo ...

So far, we found very little information about Echo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Echo to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Echo - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Echo, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Echo , we believe that it would have been located within present day Inyo County<2>.

Time Zone: The area where Echo was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Echo still existed, it would have been in the (760) & (442)<3> area codes.

Communities Also Named Echo ...

While we believe that this Echo is located in Inyo County, we know of another 3 California communities named Echo. Those communities are located in the following counties: El Dorado, Mendocino and San Bernardino County.

Beyond California, there are 34 communities that are also named Echo - they are located in Alabama, Arkansas (2), Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana (2), Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio (3), Ontario, Oregon, Pennsylvania (2), Tennessee, Texas (3), Utah, Washington and West Virginia (2).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Echo, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of California's counties, including Inyo, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>Area code (442) is an overlay for area code (760).
