Welcome to Sirdar ...The origin (or the toponymy) of Sirdar: Named after Field Marshall Lord Kitchener (1850-1916), who was made commander-in-chief (or a 'Sidar') of the Egyptian Army in 1892. Sirdar is 2,550 feet [777 m] above sea level.<1> In other words, the elevation of Sirdar is about ½ mile above sea level. Time Zone: Sirdar lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: MST- Heure Normale des Rocheuses (HNR), MDT- Heure Avancée des Rocheuses (HAR). Note: If you travel west from Sirdar (for example, toward Salmo), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT).
