The community of Tuskegee is the Seat for Macon County.

Macon County was founded in 1832 and was created by taking area from Montgomery County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Macon had a population of 18,065 people. This is a decrease of 15.79% since the last Census (which gave a population of 21,452 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Macon represented 0.45% of the total population of Alabama.
