At the time of the 2006 StatCan census, Dawson had a population of 1,327 people.

The population of Dawson represents 4.37% of the population of Yukon (which had 30,372 people at that time), making it Yukon's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2006 count of 1,327 people, the population of Dawson increased 6.08% from the 2001 StatCan census (with a count of 1,251 people).
