Henrico County is one of the original counties of Virginia and was founded in 1617.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Henrico had a population of 296,415 people. This is an increase of 13.01% since the last Census (which gave a population of 262,300 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Henrico represented 3.71% of the total population of Virginia, making it the state's 3rd most populous county (out of 134 counties).
