The community of Moab is the Seat for Grand County.

Grand County was founded in 1890 and was created by taking area from EmeryCounty.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Grand had a population of 9,660 people. This is an increase of 13.85% since the last Census (which gave a population of 8,485 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Grand represented 0.38% of the total population of Utah, making it the state's 20th most populous county (out of 29 counties).
