Robertson County was founded in 1837. Robertson was created by taking area from Bexar, Milam and Nacogdoches Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Robertson had a population of 17,104 people. This is an increase of 2.9% since the last Census (which gave a population of 16,622 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Robertson represented 0.07% of the total population of Texas.
