Cherokee County was founded in 1897. Cherokee was created by taking area from Spartanburg, Union and York Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cherokee had a population of 57,331 people. This is an increase of 3.59% since the last Census (which gave a population of 55,342 people in 2010).
