The community of Mercer is the Seat for Mercer County.

Mercer County was founded March 12, 1800 and was created by taking area from Allegheny County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Mercer had a population of 109,424 people. This is a decrease of 6.16% since the last Census (which gave a population of 116,605 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mercer represented 0.92% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
