Juniata County was founded March 2, 1831 and was created by taking area from Mifflin County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Juniata had a population of 24,760 people. This is an increase of 0.5% since the last Census (which gave a population of 24,636 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Juniata represented 0.19% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
