Mineral County was founded February 10, 1911 and was created by taking area from Esmeralda County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Mineral had a population of 4,505 people. This is a decrease of 5.87% since the last Census (which gave a population of 4,786 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mineral represented 0.18% of the total population of Nevada.
