Margaree is located on the west coast of Cape Breton (on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence).
While we don't have a date for the founding of Margaree, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1897.
Time Zone: Margaree lies in the Atlantic Time Zone (AST/ADT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: AST- Heure Normale de l'Atlantique (HNA), ADT- Heure Avancée de l'Atlantique (HAA).
Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 2 communities that are also named Margaree - they are located in Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Margaree was on a map titled Map of Maritime Provinces of Canada (from Rand McNally, 1897).
The elevation is an estimate for the area around Margaree - it will be higher in some places and lower in others.

When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code.
