While we don't have a date for the founding of Antrim, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1897.
Time Zone: Antrim lies in the Atlantic Time Zone (AST/ADT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: AST- Heure Normale de l'Atlantique (HNA), ADT- Heure Avancée de l'Atlantique (HAA).
Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 16 communities that are also named Antrim - they are located in Indiana, Kansas (2), Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Nova Scotia, Ohio, Ontario (3), Pennsylvania and Virginia.
As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Antrim was on a map titled Map of Maritime Provinces of Canada (from Rand McNally, 1897).
When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 902 code has been Overlayed with the 782 area code. New phone numbers in the Antrim area will be assigned with one of these codes: 902 or 782. As a result, placing a call in the Antrim area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).

The Canadian Postal Code consists of 6 characters, where the first three characters are the 'Forward Sortation Area (FSA)', with the last three characters being the 'Local Delivery Unit (LDU)'. In the case of Antrim, we provide only the FSA and not the LDU. The Canadian Postal Codes were created as a way of grouping addresses to make delivery more efficient. So keep in mind that any given Postal Code is only 'loosely' associated with a community (such as Antrim). The boundaries of the Postal Code can be changed, re-assigned, eliminated or overlapped with other Postal Codes. When looking for a Postal Code, whether Antrim or elsewhere, it's always best to check the website of the Canada Post / Postes Canada.
