The community of Flemington is the Seat for Hunterdon County.

Hunterdon County was founded in 1714 and was created by taking area from BurlingtonCounty.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Hunterdon had a population of 130,034 people. This is an increase of 6.59% since the last Census (which gave a population of 121,989 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Hunterdon represented 1.45% of the total population of New Jersey, making it the state's 18th most populous county (out of 21 counties).
