Finney County was founded February 22, 1883. Finney was created by taking area from Arapahoe, Grant, and  Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Finney had a population of 36,467 people. This is a decrease of 1.31% since the last Census (which gave a population of 36,952 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Finney represented 1.3% of the total population of Kansas.
