Cemeteries Near Archer ...

Since we are still searching for the location of Archer, we can't identify the cemeteries that would be nearby. Although we found mention of Archer during our research,<1> we don't have its physical location (ie- latitude and longitude). Once we can determine its location, we'll be able to prepare our list of nearby cemeteries.

We have done a cursory search and haven't been able to find any evidence that Archer still exists. If you can help with the location of Archer or know of a cemetery that we should include in our Gazetteer, please let us know.

In the case of a cemetery, we are looking for information such as its name, its GPS location, whether the cemetery is still in use or if it is historic (ie- defunct, abandoned, etc.). If it applies, we would also like to learn of any past or alternate names that the cemetery has been known by.

If you don't know the GPS location (ie- the latitude/longitude) of a cemetery, please use our Map Page for Archer to determine the cemetery's position (the instructions for finding the latitude/longitude can be found below the map).

If you need information about a burial or interment, photos, transcripts, how to contact the cemetery or local authorities, please visit our collection of Genealogy Websites on our Genealogy Helper Page for Archer.

Footnotes ...

<1>If we encounter the name of what might be a community, our methodology is to add that name to our Gazetteer. For example, we might find a sentence like "He went north past Archer and then turned east". While Archer could be some kind of landmark, we think that it's more likely to be a community. We've added Archer as a placeholder with the hope that we'll be able to add more information in the future.

Just as a reminder: Our definition of a community is rather broad and includes those places where several families lived and had a name which identified that place. The community might still exist or it might have existed for just a short period of time. Places of interest include buildings at a crossroad, families in a hollow or maybe the location of a way station. It also includes places like mines, lumber camps, ferry crossings, etc.

Also keep in mind that Archer could have been on the original document by mistake, misspelled, the original/alternate name of a community that we've listed elsewhere or was placed in the wrong county. Sometimes a post office or train station would have a different name than the community where it's located, so two names might be referring to the same community.

Since confusion between counties is common, we searched and weren't able to find another Kansas community named Archer.
