Welcome to Iron Springs ...

So far, we found very little information about Iron Springs. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Iron Springs to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Iron Springs - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Iron Springs, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Iron Springs , we believe that it would have been located within present day Adams County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Iron Springs, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1903.

A typical abbreviation for Iron Springs: Iron Spgs. (or less commonly used: Iron Spngs. or Iron Sprngs.)

The Area Codes where Iron Springs was located: 208 & 986<3>

Adding Iron Springs to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Iron Springs was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

X2X - From that list, the Iron Springs post office opened in 1903.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Iron Springs, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Idaho's counties, including Adams, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 208 code has been Overlayed with the 986 area code. New phone numbers in the Iron Springs area will be assigned with one of these codes: 208 or 986. As a result, placing a call in the Iron Springs area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
