Cassia County was founded in 1879 and was created by taking area from Owyhee County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cassia had a population of 24,052 people. This is an increase of 4.79% since the last Census (which gave a population of 22,952 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cassia represented 1.46% of the total population of Idaho.
