Grady County was founded in 1905. Grady was created by taking area from Decatur and Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Grady had a population of 25,187 people. This is an increase of 6.46% since the last Census (which gave a population of 23,659 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Grady represented 0.29% of the total population of Georgia, making it the state's 66th most populous county (out of 159 counties).
