Barrow County was founded in 1914. Barrow was created by taking area from Gwinnett, Jackson and Walton Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Barrow had a population of 83,581 people. This is an increase of 20.49% since the last Census (which gave a population of 69,367 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Barrow represented 0.72% of the total population of Georgia.
