Time Zone: Lake County lies in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Lakeport is the Seat for Lake County.

Lake County was founded in 1861 and was created by taking area from NapaCounty.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Lake had a population of 65,279 people. This is an increase of 11.95% since the last Census (which gave a population of 58,309 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Lake represented 0.17% of the total population of California, making it the state's 40th most populous county (out of 58 counties).
