The location of Iris has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Iris, you might consider that their post office opened in 1902. While the community is gone, the present day location for Iris is 1,100 feet [335 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Iris was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time Iris would have been located in the (304) & (681)<5> area codes.
