At the time of the 2010 Census, Belmont had a population of 903 people (or 11.87% of the total population of Pleasants County). This makes Belmont the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Belmont represents 0.05% of the population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 120th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 903 people, the population of Belmont decreased 12.84% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,036 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Belmont was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Belmont post office opened in 1887.

We also found Belmont in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
